U.S. Space & Rocket Center - Huntsville

I was on a work trip in Huntsville, AL a while back and got the chance to visit this museum before I left. If space travel, science, and/or engineering interests you in any way - this place is a must see. It was one of the best museum visits I've ever had.

In this first image, I captured the first thing I saw when entering the Saturn V Hall - The business end of a GENUINE Saturn V rocket. One of only 3 in the world.

On the ground is a large '1' - indicating that this is the first stage of the launch sequence. At this stage, the 5 engines (3 visible in the image) would produce a mind numbing 7.7 MILLION pounds of thrust.

To get a sense of scale, try looking for the people walking around in the shadows of the image. Large does not begin to describe this rocket.

As you walk through this hall, the different stages of the rocket are separated and denoted on the ground with large numbers just like the one seen here.

The scale of these machines mixed with the wonder I always get from thinking about space travel inspired this set of images. These rockets are so huge that when I gazed up at them I felt as if I was a little kid seeing them for the first time. I hope these images make you feel the same.
